What is the New Global Economy? |
New Global Economy The traditional economy that has been in place for centuries created the traditional shopping experience. While the traditional model will most likely never be abandoned entirely, it is increasingly being replaced by the online model. This online model is rapidly becoming a major force in the new “global economy”. The new global economy is a different paradigm, but with the same objective. Merchants still receive a payment for products or services. However, the products and services are presented in a different way, and sometimes even delivered in a different way than the traditional economy would allow. Instead of brick and mortar environments where you physically have to drive to the store location or perhaps place an order over the phone, these same products and services are brought to you by the ubiquitous Internet. Instead of relying heavily on large advertising and marketing campaigns which drive up the prices of their products and services, these companies are recommended to you by a friend or acquaintance through word-of-mouth advertising, or by “viral” advertising via the Internet. The savings to the merchant in the cost of advertising are then able to be passed on directly to you, the customer. Also the cost savings generated by the ability to deliver some products and services directly via the Internet equate to savings for the consumer as well. |
